Laughing Babies!

This smile is a product of the nightly, post-bath tickle that his dad initiates.
This smile is just cause.
These are just cute pants that I had to share with her admirers.
This is Luke's "smile". When you tell him to smile for a picture this is his best effort. It is hilarious!
And this is James' latest project. He made this huge name plate for above Sam's crib, hand painted it and all. It is the finishing touch.

Another Week Flies By

Our couch potato in the cutest dress ever donned by a potato. Dress provided by Aunt Paula Clagg.
Out for our evening stroll. Luke loves his evening strolls and the countless renditions of 'Old McDonald' that we do on the walk.
Swimming in the tub. You tell him to swim and he flops over and starts kicking. I have no idea where he learns such things! We never taught him to swim, but rather just to walk in the baby pool or float in the big pool...so where do they get this stuff from?
Two babies asleep before 10...priceless!
Our little miss asleep in her chair. We haven't made a successful transition back to the crib yet since that week when she was so congested. We'll be trying again tomorrow.

Love Creek Orchard In Medina Texas Cont...

Forgot to mention a couple of milestones. Luke is up to two word strings now. His favorite "more, please". And he can say "roll tide" when prompted. Sam is smiling at us...she has been for a few weeks, but this week she has really taken off. It isn't just a smile anymore but an all-out-smile fit. She has to be careful about the smiles though, if she gets too wide her humongous cheeks push her eyes closed and she can't see what she is smiling about anymore - then she gets all confused. Maybe the chub in those cheeks will get redistributed over time.

Trying to do Itsy Bitsy Spider - He Loves that One!
Not my best shot! But, hey, the Huskers need whatever they can get these days.

Love Creek Orchard in Medina Texas

Cool Hand Luke
Picnic Lunch
Petting Zoo
The Way Home
Ready for Fall!

Yesterday we visited an apple orchard about an hour away that does a fall festival deal each year. It started with a tractor ride from the parking lot to the front gate. Luke loved that! Then we continued on to the petting zoo (of course), the hay bail maze, the hay bail play-in-it pile, the horseback ride, the numerous pumpkin piles (for picture taking), and we topped it off with lunch. While Luke ate his PB&J and apple ice cream, we had apple tarts and an apple cupcake with cider frosting...get the theme? Everything had an apple flavor straight form the apple orchard. All the pics here are of the kiddos at the orchard. Sam was a bit fussy, so she only managed to pose once and I don't think it is one to be too proud of, but I wanted to include it to show that she was at least in the Husker spirit (which is probably why they did so well against the Red Raiders).

Sam Weighs In

I failed to post the last, 2-month stats. On Sep 25th (2 1/2 months old) Sam weighed in at 8 lbs 6 ozs! She looks like we think she should now. And she got her first shoots and in return, we got a sleepless night with a 102 degree baby. But overall, she is doing well. So well. in fact, that James and I left she and Luke with Sandra Friday night, while we went and stayed at the riverwalk. It was a much needed mini-get-a-way. We had dinner at the Tower of the Americas, walked the mall, and best of all slept!

Her fav - the vibrating chair. She does all her night time sleeping here these days. Whatever works...I'm thinking we'll need one of those vibrating pads for her mattress when she outgrows the chair. She is quite dependent on it.

First Zoo Visit

We took Luke to the zoo this past Friday. If he had to choose only three highlights to see again he'd pick 1) the construction zone, 2) the water bed, and 3) the parrot. Elephants, no big deal. Hundreds of birds landing on your head, down right scary. Giraffes, he sees them daily on his blanket. But, bring out the excavator and you have won him over! They were renovating a new exhibit called "Africa Live" and unfortunately no matter how nice it ends up being I don't think it'll top the construction vehicles it took to make it in Luke's eyes. Then they had a toddler play section, which was super cool. There was a fishing pond, a whole little city set up, animal enclosures you could crawl into the middle of, and best of all...a water bed. He loved the water bed...maybe his first big boy bed could be a water bed...or maybe he'd then be up all night playing. Anyway, the only animal who got a reaction was the parrot. I must admit the parrot was pretty, but Luke talking to the parrot was the real show. He gave his best "ka-ka" and a little wave. Then it was on to the petting zoo, which was really a goat zoo. It also qualified as a highlight, but since it wasn't his first goat experience, he is old hand at it, I didn't think it should be ranked. In the goat farm he did the usual, chase and kiss, and then he added a new move, the goat hug. The goats didn't appreciate his affection, but it was cute nevertheless.

Going in for a big wet one.

The hug assault.

Love the bulldozers in action!

Don't come any closer!

Checking out the giraffes...briefly, as the construction zone was directly behind us.
